The City of Rancho Cucamonga has teamed up with a non-profit organization called Grid Alternatives, who provides free solar panel installations to low income homeowners. This installation process only takes one to two days and the panels last 20 to 25 years and saves homeowners up to 70 percent on their electric bills. Their main goal is to reduce each homes electric bill, work with trainees, and help the environment by reducing green house gases. Grid Alternatives also has programs such as Troops to Solar, to help veterans get back into the working field, and Solar Future, which provides in-classroom instruction and hands on work for high school students.
Rancho Cucamonga is becoming more environmentally sustainable. Early this year, the City Council adopted a Sustainable Community Action Plan to help transition our city to renewable energy. What a great way to help our environment and wallets.
